To Win Life: He Left Wickedness In The Sea

By: Ymatruz | Filed under: | |

Michael Phelps was not just a hero made of gold medals. He also became one because he faced and endured the dark moments of his life. "When the water turned cold and wavy, he avoided the curves of long course and swam again to victory."

When he left wickedness under the sea, he floats to the goodness of Earth.

The recent Rio2016 Olympics evidently shown his triumph in life, where he successfully won and claimed his 23rd gold medal after his final race in swimming.

Undoubtedly, he is a larger-than-life character who will be a source of inspiration for our next-generation world-class athletes.

More importantly,  he serves as a living motivation for all of us, who may have lost directions in life, that when setback comes - stop, take a deep breath and rekindle to "make the best of things" in this world.

While sitting in one corner of the dining table, reading the online article about Phelp's drunken driving arrest story and rehabilitation, I found my thoughts responding and my hands busy in the keyboard. This poem was inspired by Michael Phelps.

Winning life has a pattern
And it always starts with living
In pain while losing self revere.
Believing his fate dooms,
    False hope comes in between
But strengthen by love
    Of family and friends.
Then comes recovery
    And regain energy
Eventually moves on
    And ends up happy.

That's because he rose up
    And didn't shutdown
    Himself from the world.
Nor gave saneness unsound
    Nor left God in tears
    As he succumbed to fears.

Winning life proves
    The Devil has no worth.
The mind, body and soul
    When working together
    Could survive the bad weather.

Wicked evil sinks
    Along thousand pounds
    Of its haunted, sinister boats
Full of mischief, selfish
    Fishes and dark clouds.

When he leaves wickedness
    Under the sea, he floats
         To the goodness of Earth.
When he lets crookedness
Eaten by sharks, his heart devotes
         To the goodness of men.
